BREAKING NEWS FROM OUR MP & HARWORTH ESTATES/CODE

Lee Rowley and myself recently had a meeting with Adam Murray and two of his Colleagues from CODA/Harworth Estates at which their proposals for housing development on the greenbelt land between Green Lane and Upperthorpe Road were discussed.

They informed us that they would be putting in an outline planning application by the end of this month (June) for 396 houses to be built on the site. However, they said they don’t expect that their application will be approved until into next year.

It is expected that the building will be done by two separate developers.

When asked what types of properties would be built they said all types up to 4 and 5 bedroom executive houses. They added as an after thought that there would be SOME affordable. Lee asked if there would be any bungalows but it would appear not.

We queried the issue of the land being greenbelt and they suggested that Lee should be following his party line.

When we raised our concerns about the impact on traffic in the village they suggested that there was only ONE hot spot with the amount of traffic and that was the small roundabout near the Midland pub. Their attitude was that traffic on this roundabout is so bad already that adding the traffic from another 396 houses wouldn’t make the problem any worse than it already is !!!!!

They are clearly putting in their application to tie in with the North East Derbyshire District Council Local Plan (on a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours’ basis).

WHETHER OR NOT YOU WANT THE HOUSING THE BE BUILT, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU LET YOUR VIEWS BE KNOWN.

You may be concerned about the village losing its GREENBELT and being completely covered with concrete and having no green spaces for future generations and the impact on the environment and wildlife.

If this is not your concern you may have issues about the amount of traffic coming in, out and around the village. The lack of car parking spaces. The air pollution, The impact on the schools and the GPs surgery. Definitely on our quality of life.

I am one of the three new members of the Parish Council (thank you to all those who voted us in), and for the past seven years I have been a member of R.A.G.E. (fighting against the excessive building of houses in Killamarsh).

As a member of Killamarsh Parish Council, a member of R.A.G.E., and as a resident of Killamarsh, I will continue to object to CODA/Harworth’s plans, but we need your help and support.

In our meeting Lee Rowley stated very clearly to them that he will be backing the people of Killamarsh and objecting to the plans.

It is now time for the people of Killamarsh to say what THEY want for the village. When the time comes PLEASE put in your objections AND attend and show your support at the Planning meeting when it happens.
