WESTTHORPE DEVELOPMENT – HARWORTH ESTATE PLANS

Ask yourself, do you want any of the following:

  • Even more crowded roads?   (the 400+ houses built would bring 900 – 1000 cars),
  • Double yellow lines on Green Lane, Westthorpe Road, Upperthorpe Road and High Street?  (The ‘plan’ shows roads exiting onto Green Lane and Upperthorpe Road),
  • Even less parking in Killamarsh than there is currently?  (Parking spaces are being lost currently, not gained),
  • More crowded surgery, with less convenient appointments available?
  • Your local Primary school of choice being unavailable because of overcrowding?
  • Road works for the next 10 years or more? (The work would be phased over a significant period),
  • Loss of all surrounding green spaces? (Once the Green Belt building restriction is breached other developers, who have put such sites into the SHLAA, will ‘jump on the bandwagon’),
  • Sheffield Road being ‘gridlocked’ for the school runs and rush hour?

Those of you who managed to visit the ‘presentation’ by Coda Planning, on behalf of Harworth Estates, will be aware that the issues raised, and the draft plan shown, were almost exactly the same as those proposed by them over two years ago – which led to the formation of RAGE.  However, the ‘evidence’ introduced to support the bid to swing local opinion was, to say the least, interesting.
